Unexpected visitor!

This gentle giant popped by to say hi at check-in time. As with all of our guests, he was met with a warm Bukela welcome.

Rumour is that he declined the offered glass of champagne but thoroughly enjoyed the scented hot towel, and also requested a room near the waterhole with valley views.

Our willing staff were of course more than happy to oblige, and, after a short meet and greet, he went on his way.

All jokes aside...

We realise that this big fella is a wild animal who needs to be treated with respect, quiet, calmness and safe distance. Bukela is situated within a Big 5 reserve and encounters like this are bound to happen - especially with curious elephant bulls in search of fresh water.

Guests were  asked to stay within their lodgings and in the communal areas, and snapped some great pics from afar.

Our number one ethos on Amakhala Game Reserve is conservation, and this always comes first - respect all wild animals and they will respect you.
