Upon arrival at the Amakhala Foundation on Thursday the 18th of July, it was all hands-on deck as we prepared for the arrival of over 60 local primary school learners.

Shortly after 10am, the 60 - overly excited - learners from Sidbury Primary School arrived with big smiles and bucket-loads of energy.

The morning started off with a quick snack, followed by arts and craft activities, a reading corner, a soccer tournament on the lawn and various other games.

Whilst the learners were entertained, the guys loaded the van and embarked on a maintenance journey at the school. The school received a fresh layer of paint and the maintenance issues on the playground were fixed up.

The day, filled with fun and festivities, ended with delicious boerewors rolls prepared on an open fire, the handing out of gift bags and donating all surplus supplies to the Amakhala Foundation for future crafting.

What was supposed to be #67minutes of giving back, turned into over 4 hours of laughter, celebrations and happy hearts.

We would like to extend a big thank you to Coca Cola, Superspar Walmer, Ciro Coffee, Rocketseed, as well as East Cape Tours for their assistance and for giving back far more than what was expected during the day.

MORE ABOUT THE AMAKHALA FOUNDATION

The Foundation is funded by outside donors as well as through the payment of bed levies from Amakhala’s commercial lodges.
